IAS mains exam pattern

Public Administration exam is written and aims to test the academic talent and ability of the candidate to present responses in a clear and consistent manner. The exam aims to evaluate all of the intellectual traits and depth and understanding of candidates rather than limited to the range of information and memory.

IAS is the short form of the Indian Administrative Service. This is one of the services of prestige among the 24 services such as IPS, IFS etc. Where UPSC conducts a public service exam (CSE) for the selection of candidates. An agent selected from the Administrative Service of India is exposed to a variety of functions that the collector, the commissioner, the head of the public sector units, chief secretary, cabinet secretary, etc. Not only the experience and the challenges, but also the possibilities of a positive change in the lives of millions in India due to the IAS a unique career option.

The UPSC has revised the Public Service Master Review Model from 2016 onwards.

Now there are 7 + 2 = 9 jobs to be answered for the main exam. They are all descriptive. There are two qualification documents 1) Any modern Indian language 300 brands 2) English of 300 brands. The marks of these two documents will not be counted in the merit list of the main examination.

The candidate is allowed to choose a language in the eighth annex of the Constitution or English as the writing language of the test network.

According to the new model in the UPSC program, there are “four” general paper studies of 250 points each with a total of 1000 points are mandatory. The scope of the general curriculum is level.

There is only one question option “ONE” to choose from the list of topics. It consists of two papers each of 300 brands. Therefore, the optional paper has a total of 600 points. The candidate is allowed to take literature as an optional subject “without conditions to have the same level of graduation. “The scope of the optional program of study is greater than the degree, but below the level of mastery.

Test Interview / personality is 275 brands. The candidate can give preference to the language you wish to be interviewed. UPSC will organize translators.

The overall written score examination is 1750 points.

The written examination consists of the following documents:

Paper A – Modern Indian Language 300 brands – nature Qualification – Untold Brands – Pass compulsory-

(I) given passages Understand.

(Ii) Precis writing

(Iii) the use of vocabulary.

(Iv) Short test

(V) Translation from English into Indian and vice versa.

Note 1: Documents on Indian languages and English will be high-level school and will only qualify. The marks obtained in these documents will not be counted for the final ranking.

Note 2: Applicants must respond to English and Indian languages in English and the respective Indian language (except in the case of translation).

Document B – English – 300 points – Qualification Nature – no compulsory approval mark contains-

The purpose of this work is to test the ability of candidates to read and understand serious discourse prose and to express their ideas clearly and correctly in the English and Indian languages in question.

The model of questions would generally be as follows:

(I) Passage given Comprehension

(Ii) Precis writing

(Iii) Use and vocabulary

(Iv) short test.

Candidate is allowed to take up literature as an optional subject “without the condition of having it at the graduation level.”

Sub Total (Written test) 1750 Marks

Marks of English and Language will not be counted in the total tally of marks for the written exam. So the total of the Mains exam will be 1750 Marks Only.

Interview/Personality Test – 275 marks

Candidate can give preference of the language in which they may like to be interviewed. UPSC will make arrangement for the translators.

Grand Total 2025 Marks
A candidate is allowed to use any one language from the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution or English as the medium of writing the examination.
